Curriculum![]() Personal and Social DevelopmentA warm and friendly environment creates positive relationships with adults and other children. Our Ofsted report says children are helped to feel secure by 'friendly and caring' staff. Children are encouraged to express their feelings and listen to others. ![]() Language and CommunicationBy promoting confidence children learn to communicate with adults and other children without fear. Books are always available with daily group story and song times. Ofsted report 'they happily chat to each other and staff about events in their lives, some are confident to speak in a group.' ![]() Numeracy and Problem SolvingChildren participate in sorting, matching, sequence and counting during play and Staff introduce mathematical language in conversation. Opportunities are used to help children problem solve like working out how many more chairs are needed or if there are enough pieces of apple for everyone. ![]() Knowledge and Understanding of the WorldA stimulating environment, varied activities and visitors help create a willingness to explore and understand our world. We plant flowers and vegetables, study the different forms of water, use real wood and tools, these are just some of our activities. ![]() CreativeThe opportunity to use art as a way of studying textures and colour and to express oneself is encouraged at Ladybirds. At playgroup children can participate in messy creativity in a way that is not always practical at home. ![]() PhysicalThe importance of children being fit and healthy is recognised and so every day we have exercise. Ideally this is outside but if not we have a range of equipment like climbing frame, bikes, trampet, balance beams, bats and balls that can be used safely in our large hall. |
